Yard News & Photos The Boatyard is involved this year in a range of capital improvements. We have ordered a new, larger and improved crane for the basin that will expand and facilitate our rigging capabilities. (Photo at right shows excavation of the old crane in progress.) Several of our sheds have been insulated and relighted with Halogen lamps to increase our winter work area and enhance the inside storage surroundings for yachts. A new Brownell boat transporter will be delivered. We have also applied for permission to construct new storage sheds, increase our floating docks, and dredge the harbor adjacent to our present docks. As the sailing season slows and drifts into the busy time for our rigging, carpentry, painting, mechanical and other departments we wish all of our customers and visitors to the yard the very best during the approaching lay-up months.
Recent Projects The teak deck handiwork at left is by Dan Goyette on the Little Harbor 44 SURPRISE. She has had a refit here over the last winter... electrical, electronics, battery boxes, microwave, inverter and Awlgripped mast. We will be Awlgripping the topsides Navy blue, replacing hatch lenses, and refinishing the freshly stripped exterior brightwork. At right, Gary Griese and Kip Tate sanding out the hull of FIDELIS, a Gulfstar 43, in preparation for Awlgripping her. She also has had new aluminium rubrails, new aft cabin and forward cabin sole, new ports and numerous other upgrades. New Work Docks prove themselves The floating docks shown below were installed last fall. We needed them -- The work basin gets full to overflowing in the spring and fall and these new docks allow us to work on boats (commissioning, rigging) and to make repairs.
